At FGC we are more than a railway company: we are a sustainable mobility operator.
We have been connecting Catalan territory and running rail and mountain tourism services for 40 years,

and we have become an international benchmark as technical and strategic consultants in rail transport and tourism management. Meeting the needs of people and the territory is what drives us to evolve, to be proactive and to surpass ourselves constantly.

We are activists for sustainability, quality service, research and innovation, technology, punctuality and attention to detail.

Connecting people to the territory, its needs and those of the planet is what drives us. But we don’t do it alone: there are 1,963 of us, committed to our society and prepared to drive the change the world needs to make.

We connect Catalonia with trains, funiculars, cable cars, rack trains, chair lifts, gondola lifts and ski lifts.

But above all we do this as the most sustainable alternative for transporting passengers and goods, so avoiding thousands of tonnes of CO₂ emissions. Specifically, those emitted by 75 million journeys in private vehicles and 81,000 lorries every year.

From the metropolis of Barcelona and the Vallès, Baix Llobregat, Anoia and Bages lines, to the Pyrenees, with the Lleida to La Pobla line, and the mountains of Montserrat and Núria with the rack trains.

Our way of working and our values are people-focused. This is why we provide our service with maximum commitment and attention to detail, with honesty, eager to take on new challenges, always working in line with sustainability.

In the technology sphere, we are currently the world laboratory for implementing 5G on suburban metro systems and are working on more than 32 research and innovation projects in collaboration with companies and institutions from all over the world.

We realise we are lucky to have the natural environment around us and this is why we promote it and help everyone to discover and enjoy Catalonia’s mountains through a wide range of recreational experiences fostering active, environmentally responsible leisure all year round. We run and promote various mountain tourism resorts. Specifically, our six mountain resorts

are the gateway to the nature parks of the headwaters of the rivers Ter and Freser, Cadí Moixeró and Alt Pirineu and the Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici national park. We also run four tourist trains to bring users closer to the country’s nature and culture. All these activities generate a net economic impact of over 120 million euros and nearly 3,000 jobs.

The primary goal of our activity is to generate opportunities, jobs and economic and social development in areas of outstanding value in terms of their environment, landscape and quality of life.

We work constantly to improve our digital and physical infrastructures, to offer our visitors a better and better experience. We carry on our activities in the most environment-friendly way, and encourage our visitors to do the same, constantly investing in boosting energy efficiency and cutting down and reusing waste, while fostering biodiversity and protecting the environment through the ecoparks and the Montserrat GeoPark.

Because, as nature lovers ourselves, we want to carry on enjoying it.

To increase the sustainability of this activity compared to a highly polluting option like road transport, we ship potassium salts, SEAT cars and cases for vehicle parts.

Like this, with our current transport capacity, we save 81,801 lorry journeys a year, representing a saving of 3.1 million litres of diesel fuel. And we manage all this with seven locomotives and 98 wagons.

Our challenge is to save 202,000 lorry journeys a year by 2022, a 60% increase, saving 70% more litres of diesel fuel and cutting polluting emissions by 66%.

Because by increasing our transport capacity we also increase our capacity to have a positive impact on the environment.
